Date night is very important in our family and tonight I was lucky to have dinner and see a play with Dominic at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre to eat and watch Seussical. So to start off our night we arrived at 6pm to have dinner before the show started at 7:30. Dinner's a buffett as well as dessert. The set up was amazing with a variety of wonderful food. So as we sit down to eat it's a table of four and at this point it's just Dom and I, we start to eat and the host seats another woman and young lady. I can see Dominic's body language that he is uncomfortable to have dinner next to strangers. He looks at me and says "Mom why are they sitting here?" Well I forgot to prepare Dominic that this was not a normal resteraunt and they sit guests where there is availability. Within a couple of minutes we broke the ice with our table guests explaining it's our date night and it's Dominic's first time to see a musical. Turns out as we were talking to Kathi and Bailey, Kathi's an actress at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and se plays the wicked stepmom in Cinderella and Bailey her grandaughter is visiting from Florida for the summer. We had a blast conversing with them over dinner and dessert. Next the play starts and I could see in Dominic's eyes how much he enjoyed the play, taking in each character as his face lit up! I could also see Kathi paying attention to Dominic and by the end of the play Kathi asked Dominic how he enjoyed his first musical. Dominic was thrilled that he had the opportunity to have been introduced and couldn't wait to do it all over seeing another play. With all the excitement Dominic displayed Kathi gave us her number and told Dominic if he wanted to see Cinderella he could call her and she would "Hook him Up". Well well my little socialite agreed to call her if he wanted to see Cinderella but would also stay in touch with his new friend Bailey. Kathy then proceeds to invite us to the cabaret following the show to meet all the actors from Horton Hears A Who. Well my little guy took her up on the offer and met everyone he wanted to and ask for autographs. I couldn't believe how independent and social he was tonight. He went from actor to actor talking away and asking to get pictures too! I love everything about the outdoors from cooking to hiking, swimming, telling stories around a campfire, toasting marshmallows for smore's and fishing. Yes it's one of my favorite things to do. So this year the boys were at the perfect age to get them to sit and wait for the fish to bite. Since this is my area of expertise Nate wanted me to show them how it really should be done. I showed the boys how to set up a fishing pole , put the worm on the hook and cast a line. Of course Dominic was not so optimistic that he would catch a fish but hello, the kids got it in his blood. He's a natural fisherman and of course caught his first fish!! Brandon on the other hand wanted to just hold the fishing pole and cast. He didn't catch a fish but there is always next year. The Cannons had a blast at Table Mesa Campground up north with aunts, uncles and cousins. For those of you who don't know who "Victoria Justice" is, she is an actress on Nickelodeon. Victoria is the main character on the show and it's about a girl that starts a new school, not any school but a performing arts school. I've watched it with Dominic and it's quite cute. Dominic aquired a liking to this beauty, "Victoria". I don't blame him, she's really pretty. So Dominic was adement that he write her and so he did. Every day for a week he checked the mail (since he recently learned to ride his bike w/o training wheels) riding to the mailbox many times. Finally, at the end of the week he checked it again. To his surprise there it was a letter from his first Hollywood Crush! Dominic was overwhelmed with excitement stating "She finally wrote back!" Dominic was intently reading what was in his letter, not really allowing us to see what it read. But no worrries from the parents we pretty much figured out what she wrote to him. As I reflect on the last three years we have moved in together, teaching Dominic what a true family is, building on to our family and sending Dominic to kindergarten .Our anniversary is such a special time for us to celebrate each other and our journey that we are making it a point to try something new every year. Our first year was dinner at Trader Vics, our second was a trip to Las Vegas to attend Family Life, and this year we were recommended to try Fogo De Chao. It was a romantic Brazillian lunchwith endless steak, chicken lamb and a salad bar like no other. I am appreciative that Nathan is open to trying new places to eat and that is one of the qualities I love about him. Thank you my love for the last 3 years and to our future. Dominic was recently drafted to the Jets (flag football of course) and he is loving it. Nathan and I have had Dominic in a variety of sports to see what sparks his interest. Well I think Dominic's interest in football has lead us to this point. His first game was April 2nd and our team as well as the parents we pumped up!! Dominic did great and for a moment I could see right into the future that this is his game, his destiny, he was built for it! Of course we can't leave out the side liner Brandon...he is the team mascot per say! Now my baby is a toddler...I just don't understand how all this goes by us in a blink of an eye. For the shindig we had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party with bouncer and cupcakes with lots of friends and family to celebrate another milestone in our wonderful yet spunky little guys life. He soaked up all the attention of course and bounced his little heart out. Brandon loved his cupcakes and games we played and of course he was so excited to open gifts. Little Potts partied his self out that during his party he fell asleep with pluto/goofy his "Favorite Buddies"! We also celebrated just a few short days later at the Phoenix Zoo, as you can see he loves the elephants (thank goodness his head was too big) or he would have been right in the exhibit with them! This Saturday we were blessed to attend the Adrian Gonzalez Baseball Clinic at Central Christian Church. Nathan and I thought it would be a great idea to take Brandon and Dominic to meet some Major League Players without having to deal with such an large crowd of people, as well as hear their stories of how God has worked and continues to work their path in life. Turns out Dominic was able to get a meet and greet with some of baseball's greatest and of course Brandon was able to give and receive lots of attention from Baxter (the mascot for the D-Backs). You worked so hard this last year from adjusting to a new schedule, homework and learning how to read Mommy ,Daddy and Brandon are so very proud of you! It used to be either Nathan or I reading to him at bedtime but with lots of practice of his sight words and sounding out letters he has officially been reading to us since the end of March. We are really proud of how he is coming along with adding and subtracting and following all directions with ease. He is also learning to manage homework and T-Ball. Eek !!!This kid is on the move and growing so fast and learning so much and doing so well at it we surprised him to a Phoenix Suns game! I'm still wondering how this flew by us as fast as it did. On Sunday we partied it up at Desert Breeze Park, the weather was beautiful, the food was great and the company of family and friends was a blessing! For a treat we had Carters Farm petting zoo to keep the kids entertained, and since Brandon loves animals this was just what he needed. Brandon just soaked up all the animals, one of his lovies was a baby bunny that he snuggled with and as you can see he tried to ride a goat! Poor goat...he didn't even mind that Brandon was crawling all over him. We did however discover another tooth(#8). This guy is into so much these days from cruising across one end of the couch to the other to taking his first steps. He's says Momma Dadda Nana and tries to sing along to lady gaga. His mission is to keep us on our toes! Lets start with his fist forward facing carseat and the fact that he is non-stop saying Momma momma momma, the joy I get when I hear that. Brandon has also broken in the 7th tooth(yeah!!) I knew the fussing was going to produce something good. And then there is Brandon's first EMERGENCY ROOM TRIP! I knew it would happen soon or later, I was just hoping later and thank the lord everything is ok..we will just be waiting 4-6 months for a new finger nail to grow in. This all due in part to Mr Super attempting to walk and falling hard on his left hand. POOR LITTLE GUY! Although I have to say I took it worse than he did. No parent ever wants to see their child in any kind of pain but as soon as I picked him up there was no more crying after that, even when everyone was getting xray's, cleaning it up and bandaging it up. What a trooper! All he did was stare at it like what did I do to my finger. So Dr Reinhold at Banner Children's Cardons Center told us to follow up with Dr Goldstein (who by the way is so super great as well as his office staff) for the next month just to make sure the nail is growing in properly. Along with all that finger mess my little guy had his 1st profession haircut by Sondi our stylist who has cut Dominc's hair since he was six months old. Yes he is stuffed but with a lot of love. Dominic had the opportunity to make Phoenix during his 1st field trip,which was Stuffington Bear Factory. The kids were able to take a tour of the factory and learn how Stuffington came to be. I was able to go with him and experience what my mom did with me and as you can see i had taken on the green group Dominic Ashlynn Caroline Able and Loryn. Of course as an added bonus for Dominic I bought him an outfit for his bear. Saturday and Sunday were without a doubt FUN!!! We started off on Saturday with a wonderful dinner and a delicious cake that Gary had shipped esp. for Linda, it was from New Orleans and whoever found a baby king in their slice was blessed with luck for a whole year! HeHeHe Followed by such a wonderful desert we played sharades (a Cannon family favorite), and let me tell you, these peeps are HARD CORE about the game. Of course our team won with someone guessing mine in 26 seconds. After round one we settled down for some adult conversation and night caps. Which was well needed... then it was sleepy time and up for round two for some Sunday hiking at Tanque Verde Valley. All I can say is Wow about the beautiful weather and the scenery!!! God truly has given us so much to enjoy! I also want to give a big THANKS to Aunt Linda and Gary for having us over. I have the warmest greeting from the boys and my ever so greatful husband, followed by stories of what their day entailed. Tonight it was Nathan wrestling Dominc and Brandon learning the ropes as well. Brandon was wondering what they were doing so he decided to join in. With his male instinct kicking in he jumped in taking Nathan down as Dominc did. So i joined in only to protect Dominic from Nathan by finding his ticklish spot! Dom loved that with a simple tickle he was free from the headlock daddy had him in. We started with a visit to Santa (which Dominic was anticipating for a while). He let him know all the gifts he wanted esp. the Transformer series 4!! Such details... I bet if Brandon could talk he would tell him he would want what Mommy and Daddy wants, both K-9 teeth to come in to relieve him of the pain he has dealt with. Along with the visit we took an hour long train ride around our good friend Sybils community. What a sight to see with so many beautiful lights. We also spent time baking for Santa and making reindeer food. Santa isn't the only hungry one! As you can see from the pictures Dominic was preparing on Xmas Eve to make sure everyone was fed and that we put the magic key on the front door so only Santa could enter, then everyone was off to bed awaiting Dominics wake up call on Christmas day. I have to say we ended up waking Dominic up to let him know that the tree was full of goodies!! To see Dominic and Brandon's faces opening up each gift was a gift in itself! Of course everyone got what they asked for from Santa including Brandon..his K-9 teeth...BTW he uses them very well. Brandon has learned to wave, sit up solo and he is eating 2nd stage foods! Along with that he is almost breaking in teeth (for real this time) and just about to crawl! We caught him drinking a Capri Sun!! It happend to be that Nate was drinking it and left it in the living room(of course in grabbing distance) So we come around the corner to find Brando ACTUALLY drinking the Capri Sun! He obviously enjoyed it cause it was 1/2 gone. Go Brandon for learning how to use a straw and using it well. So here is Nathans lesson on leaving stuff around for Brandon to grab. Oh yeah another great accomplishment for Dominic is that he was made HERO this week! Hero gets to have lunch with Principal "Mac"and he brought home Peejay for the week. Peejay is the class sock monkey and we all had the pleasure of hanging out with him this week at the end of the week Dominic had to journal his week with Peejay and then return him to share his adventures, it was a sad departure! This was our first getaway since Tater Tot's arrival (and a much needed one) We took off to Sedona (Our Special Place) to hang out for the weekend of our Anniversary. Yes the kids came!! Along with that he had a few shots : ( Of course this is never easy for any mother to see her child get shots. Well like Brandon I cried! It did however affect him the rest of the day. He was sore in both legs and just not feeling well. At one point when there was no calming him down I found Dominic crying, when I asked him what was wrong he said, "cause brother got his shots". Nate guessed 8#3oz and i guessed 8#7oz. Geez what was I thinking!!! Both Nate and I want to thank our wonderful nurses Rachel and the FAB 4 (Dr Johnstone, Dr Franken, Sommer and Vanessa) for helping us bring our beautiful baby boy into the world! By the way Nathan was the biggest part of the fab 5. I left work as soon as i could to be by her side. It was also her 84th Birthday! We spent the whole day wondering why she was struggling to stay with us. We figured she was waiting for her son, the only one who had not been able to come and see her (he's sick in Indiana). We said our Goodbye's and prayed for her comfort and that we all loved her very very much. So trying to figure out what she needed in order for her to let us go, one of the aides Patty said, "Promise me you will open the window for her, she always said she was going to escape this place thru her bedroom window!" So we did... she still hung in strong. At about 6:15 I had to leave for a short bit, but my sis and aunt were still with her till i returned. A call from my sis came @ 7:02 that Grandma had taken her last breath! Amazing and beautiful... all she needed was just my sister in there. Her closest grandchild and best friend!! Grandma we love you and miss you. Now is not the end but the beggining of such a wonderful life for you! P.S. I can't say I did this all by myself because dom came to my rescue. Especially knowing that there are power tools involved. We set it up in our bedroom rather than a nursery for many reasons. One of those being that we will probably </span>be camped out for a while in our room anyways. What's a little family bonding right. Anyways we managed to get the crib up and it's now just waiting for Tater Tots arrival. I have also posted a new belly pic. We shared the last of 2008 with family and friends. Aunt Norma and Uncle Rich were leaving back to California and we thought about 2years ago when we made the same plans.. We had a great time talking, watching the live band and the Flaminco dancers. They were amazing. Nathan and I did call it night very early and decided to spend it at home before all the crazy drunk drivers were out and about. We rang in the New Year at home.... Unfortunatley we ended up soon after at the hospital. I was having contractions every 3 minutes and they were not letting up. I was given 2 doses of terb and then 1 dose of niphedipen. It was a long night for the both of us and we finally made it back home. Thank God for things turning out the way it did. The baby was fine and I didn't have any cervical changes!
